Dear Public’s Health Hiring Team, 

I am writing this letter to express my interest in applying for the position of Copywriting Intern. I am very passionate and have a strong background in writing, along with experience and interest in the science and medical fields. 

I spent the majority of my high school years as a Junior Scientist at the Zuckerman Institute Biobus Program where I developed an interest in the scientific world. I loved exploring new advancements and dedicated my time to learning how to conduct research and design my own projects. From there, I transitioned to working at the New York State Psychiatric Institute where I assisted with research being conducted on pregnant women and new mothers. I spent time with study participants and learned what it means to interact with people and analyze their health. One of my responsibilities was writing questions and finding ways to get local members of my community to participate in our study. I had to think about the people around me and assess how they would respond to certain wording or images, and how they could be convinced to let us into their world. 

In college as I developed my writing skills, I have taken a variety of classes such as Writing for Engineers and Writing for the Sciences. In these classes I have studied how to translate technical knowledge into language that can appeal to various audiences. I am currently putting that to use in my position at the CUNY School of Medicine as I assist high school students with editing their research abstracts. I know the value and strength of words and have always admired the connections between literature and the technical world. I would be grateful for the opportunity to hone this skillset at Publics Health.
